Two Roads

There are two roads sundered.
I had to choose one and I wondered.
The road on the right is where there's a lot of footprints.
The road on the left is where's unknown
What should I choose?

The road on the right is where everyone had been
The road that many have seen
It's an easy road.
Should I go there?

The road on the left is where nobody went
The road of mystery.
It's a complicated road
Should I take the challenge?

Nuclear Power

The nuclear power can be a friend and an enemy at the same time. Nuclear power can produce a lot of energy such as producing electricity. Electricity is important source for our life spending, because we mostly use our electric powers to keep the room brighten, watching television, using a computer, and any other machines going in the house to stay active. Nuclear power can also be an enemy, because it makes huge amounts of radioactive waste, causing cancer, a brain tumor, etc. However does that mean we have to stop the Nuclear completely or just reduce the use amount of Nuclear power?
Nuclear Power can be dangerous, but if we use them well, it can be really supportive to us. It’s similar as controlling the fire like if we use it too much it’ll choke you and really hot, but if we use it descent amount of fire it can be no harm and support us instead such as cooking. I went to the website called dosomething.org and I found out that 20% of America’s emission free power comes from nuclear power. One in five households in the U.S is electrically powered by nuclear energy and 14% world electricity produced by nuclear energy. “Electricity generation emits more carbon dioxide in the United States than does transportation or industry, and nuclear power is the largest source of carbon-free electricity in the country. Nuclear power generation is also relatively cheap, costing less than two cents per kilowatt-hour for operations, maintenance, and fuel” (Foreignaffairs). This source explains that nuclear energy helps electricity emitting less carbon dioxide and cost less of electricity and use it same amount. In the website called http://www.fi.edu/guide/wester/benefits.html said that “Nuclear plants help regions meet air pollution standards. Air pollution compliance regulations are actually being enforced against the total supply of electricity, not just facilities that emit pollutants. Both emission caps and permits under ambient air quality standards represent a predetermined level of pollution rights available to a range of industrial activities, one of which is electricity production. These restrictions remain fixed, even if the total amount of electricity needed to satisfy demand in the affected regions of the country rises. A state or region can more easily remain within its emission limitations and still meet its energy needs when emission-free sources are used to satisfy a portion of demand”. This means that nuclear energy can reduce the cost of air pollution control because it is emission free sources. If we stop the nuclear plant, we wouldn’t get much of the energy as we want. Nuclear power plants produce a large amount of electricity in a relatively small space, they require significantly less land for operation than all other energy sources.
The disadvantage of having Nuclear Energy radioactive waste, nuclear accidents, nuclear radiation, impact on aquatic life and major impact on human life. The radioactive waste needs to be disposed off at a safe place since they are extremely dangerous and can leak radiations if not stored properly. It emits radiations from tens to hundreds of years. “The storage of radioactive waste has been major bottleneck for the expansion of nuclear programs. From conserve-energy-future.com said that “The nuclear wastes contain radio isotopes with long half-lives”. This means that the radio isotopes stay in the atmosphere in some form or the other. These reactive radicals make the sand or the water contaminated, also known as mixed waste. While so many new technologies have been put in place to make sure the nuclear accidents won’t happen again like Chernobyl or Fukushima, the risks like that are still extremely high. Even small radiation leaks can cause devastating effects. For example, the symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and fatigue. People who work near those areas are at high risk of facing nuclear radiations, if it happens. The website, Conserve Energy Future also said that “there are power reactors called breeders. They produce plutonium. It’s an element which is not found in the nature however it is a fissionable element. It is a by-product of the chain reaction and is very harmful if introduced in the nature. It is primarily used to produce nuclear weapons. Most likely, it is named as dirty bomb.” Basically, the plutonium can destroy our nature. The radiation can impact on aquatic life, because of Eutrophication. There are many seminars and conferences being held every year to look for a specific solution. Reports say that radioactive wastes take almost 10,000 years to get back to the original form. We also know that the nuclear bombs were dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. Even after five decades of the mishap, children are born with defects, because of the nuclear effect.

I recommend that we should stop the nuclear plant. We already have enough torturing natures such as carbon dioxide, destroying rainforest to make papers and building house, and burning fuels and coals. If we continue, we’ll end up destroying our planet soon.

The Crucible

A crucible is a heat resistant container used to test the purity of certain substances via high temperatures. The honesty and purity of all Salem residents was on trial. Many fell short of true integrity when faced with the harsh reality of their faith and chose to pin the guilt of others instead just like Tituba did. “I want to open myself!.... I want the light of God, I want the sweet love of Jesus! I danced for the Devil; I saw him, I wrote in his book; I go back to Jesus; I kiss His hand. I saw Sarah Good with the Devil! I saw Goody Osburn with the Devil! I saw Bridget Bishop with the Devil!”(Act I). After the slave-girl Tituba has confessed to witchcraft. Abigail spent the first act worrying desperately about the possibility of being disgraced for having cast charms with her friends in the forest. Tituba’s confession, however, offers an example of a way out, and Abigail takes it. She “confesses” to consorting with the Devil, which, according to the theology of Salem, means that she is redeemed and free from guilt. Then, she accuses others of being witches and shift the blame to the others.
The plot is tied to Puritain ideals on purity, godliness, and strict punishments. The society is forced to maintain completely virtuous lives. Even slight departure from these ideals represents a departure from divine mandate, and is punishable by torture and death. Another critical theme in The Crucible is the role that hysteria can play in tearing apart a community. In The Crucible, the townsfolk accept and become active in the hysterica climate not only out of genuine religious piety but also because it gives them a chance to express repressed sentiments and to act on long helpd grudges. The most obvious case is Abigail, who uses the situation to accuse Elizabeth Proctor of witchcraft and have her sent to jail.

The consequence of sin and wrongdoing in Puritain society was harsh punishment, or death. Many found this too heavy a burden and deferred guilt to whoever was the most likely candidate. In addition, some falsely accused their neighbors as witches in order to obtain their land, possessions, or loves. Such as Abigail, who tries to take Proctor as her husband and her rage overflows and we see the roots of what becomes her targeted, destructive romp through Salem. “I look for John Proctor that took me from my sleep and put knowledge in my heart! I never knew what pretense Salem was, I never knew the lying lessons I was taught by all these Christian women and their covenanted men! And now you bid me tear the light out of my eyes? I will not, I cannot! You loved men John Proctor, and whatever sin it is, you love me yet!” (Act I). Abigail Williams utters these words in an Act I conversation with John Proctor, clueing the audience in to her past affair with him. While Proctor may still be attracted to her, he is desperately trying to put the incident behind him. However, Abigail has no such sense of closure, as this quote makes clear.

Civil Disobedience Essay

           Civil Disobedience Essay
Sometimes, they make laws that we cannot agree on, because we think it's unfair. Civil disobedience exists when these high people make rules that does not even make sense or again, something that we cannot agree on. I went to this website: http://www.forusa.org/blogs/mark-johnson/wristy-buisness-civildisobedience-elimate-change/11937. It contains the article is part of fellowship of Conciliation website. When I was looking at this main website, I saw the title, "Working for peace, justice and nonviolence since 1945". The support peace, and nonviolence. Also, they define an organization, "as an inter faith organization, FOR-USA's mission is to organize, train, and grew diverse movement that welcomes all people of conscience to end structures of violence and war, and create peace through the transformative power of nonviolence." The article is about three sociologists, an economist. Two Rabbis and a Unitarian talking about Carbon caps and carbon taxes, distributive justice, no-growth economic models, the enviromental consequences of war, the state of the Movement, faith-based organizing, and monkey-wrenching. The public opinion is increasingly aligned with scientific concerns about initiative to focus public like politicians and religious leaders underlying moral issues has been slow to emerge. It shows the seriousness of perception of people. It was interesting how Mark Johnson (the author of the article) went to the front line to see what's actually going on and get it arrested.
The article called "Philly Mom of Two Arrested in Act of Civil Disobedience at White House." at URL: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/greenliving/Philly-mom-of-two-arrested-in-civil-disobedience-act-at-white-house.html by Sandy Bavers. Philly.com website deals serious issues like civil wars, protest, the environment, laborers, food, and health. It also seems to focus on beneficial information to people. Anyways, the article is about Eileen Flanagan getting arrested outside the White House for doing civil disobedience. She paid hundred dollar fine to be released and she considered that the money is well spent. Then, she promised that she will be back in D.L. along with several hundred others from the region and perhaps 20,000 to 25,000 overall to demonstrate against the pipeline and for action on climate hinge. It's really sad that people fight for their lives to change, having a little piece of hope that they can do it. Why does Civil Disobedience exist? People make decisions that we don't appreciate so we will rage against them. Sometimes, they make silly laws that I don't even know why they made a statement like that. If they make laws that we can agree on, they never had to face this rage and riots to mess up everything. I sometimes think the ones who make laws don't have common sense.
The biggest Civil Disobedience was black rights. Martin Luther King, who was the first step to gain the black equal rights that changed the world for African Americans by his speech. People from the South and KKK never appreciated his as expected. They fear that African Americans will gain power, and won't be able to control them as they want to so they all act violence against them. Surprisingly enough, they never arrested the white men who oppose the black equal rights. However, when African Americans fight them back, the police beat them up, shoot them, and arrest them. So, the “King courageous commitment to nonviolence and passive resistance captured the attention and respect of the nation”(246). This means that the Martin Luther takes the speech that African American don’t need to take the violence to achieve their rights. Even now, African Americans don’t have equal rights as much as white people do and there are still racism around the country.
I wish that high people have much more common sense and should really think wisely about making laws which civil disobedience should never happen.

Margeret Mead's Essay

Margeret Mead's argument is that we Americans admire people with great talents, but we also don't appreciate on some talents. For example, a great murderer has such skills of killing people and we obviously see them as a threat. However, why can't we give him a chance? A chance to change against us to protect us with his great fighting skills. Obviously, there are no such thing as a second chance in reality most likely, so we hunt the murderer and execute him instead. So, I agree Mead's argument.

Sometimes in somewhere, they block our talents. Maybe our talent is great in this world, but talents is not the only thing to success in your life. It's the effort that prize success. A hard effort becomes a talent to amazing talent. We think successful people comes from their talent, but the fact is that it is mostly from effort.
